Benazir Bhutto has transcended the mere role of political leader, she is now a martyr. And just like the famous Jedi in Star Wars striking her down has made her more powerful than any of her enemies could possibly imagine. No longer just a face of political change in Pakistan, the name of Bhutto may just be the rallying cry in the fight to stabalize the nation. Or conversely could ring the death knell for a united Pakistan and my usher in a bloody civil war along the lines of neighboring Afghanistan. Now imagine that horrible scene complicated by Pakistan's nuclear weapons and the tensions with India over Jammu and Kashmir - the War on Terror just got a little more terrifying.
The writing was on the wall really, it was only a matter of time before her enemies got her and judging from the email she sent to CNN a few months ago, she was resigned to her fate. Now the question is what will Pakistani's do in the wake of this assasination? Will they stand up and say "enough" or will the country be divided upon tribal and/or political lines? If the tales of taliban and Al-Qaeda infultrating Pakistan's security and intelligence forces, then things could get much worse before they get any better.
