Bush Economy Keeps Food Banks Busy

| , , , , , , ,

Here is the other face of the Bush Economy, one that relies on charity to get by, one that can buy less food everyday the dollar drops. This picture is from Florida, Jeb's former state, now imagine a freezing winter up North and heating oil at all-time highs - now do you choose to eat or stay warm?

So what is the answer for these people? Well if they were able to find enough work this past year then they will get Bush's vaunted rebate, keeping them out of the gutter for a couple of weeks. But what of those that are unemployed or under-employed? What about the partially disabled too hurt to work but too healthy to collect, or those whose unemployment benefits already ran out (and no longer show up in job figures)?

Take my word for it - you are going to see more of this if nothing is done about the economy. The arrival of warm weather will help poor people in colder regions save some money, which they will need next winter when oil costs even more. You've heard of "a rising tide floats all boats" but what about "an economic tsunami drowns us all?"
