Judging from this story, I'd say whatever they feed the kids in the UK is better than what we feed them here in the US. Otherwise I'd be either making my kids' lunch everyday or giving them some money to buy something instead of eating the down cattle and cartilage that the US feeds their kids at school.
I remember the "school lunch is cool" commercials and posters when I was a kid - I wasn't so impressionable that I didn't trust my nose, those cafeterias stunk, especially on pizza or taco days. Fast food ain't health food but I bet they start with better ingredients than the USDA surplus the lunchladies had to work with.
